Who will make our travel arrangements for the tours?
All travel arrangements are prepared by Maxima Travel International, a full service licensed travel agency that we work with. As member of ACTA (Association of Canadian Travel Agencies) & Consumer Protection BC you can feel secure knowing that all travel arrangements are professionally handled.

Do the tours include all flights?
The tours do not include international flights. The traveler is responsible for booking their international flights because everyone will be departing from different cities. Some travelers prefer certain airlines or perhaps book flights using their travel points from credit cards. A full service agency will be happy to arrange flights on your behalf for a fee. Domestic flights listed in the tour package are included in the cost of the tour.

I have a challenge with my pre-flight or post flight arrangement. Who do I contact?
Immediately contact the travel agent, airline or agency where you booked your ticket to determine what can be done to get you where you need to be.

Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Travel insurance is not included in the price of the tour. You are responsible for purchasing medical and health insurance. Medical and evacuation insurance is REQUIRED for your trip, and cancellation/interruption coverage is highly recommended. A full service agency offers travel and health insurance, and you will receive a quote at time of booking. However, if you choose to obtain your own travel insurance, you are required to provide signed insurance waiver to the agency at time of confirmation.

What other types of insurance do I need for the trip?
Your travel insurance should include health, life and disability coverage that will help you avoid large expenses, such as the cost of hospitalization or medical treatment outside Canada. If you are flying, being insured for flight cancellation, trip interruption, lost luggage and document replacement will save you from major disruptions and additional costs. Inquire with your insurance provider. Make sure you check the Country Travel Advice and Advisories of Canada. If a travel advisory is issued for your destination, after you make your travel arrangements but before or during your trip, it may affect your travel health insurance or trigger your trip cancellation insurance. Make sure you understand any terms and conditions in the policy in regard to travel advice and advisories from the Government of Canada.

Do I need a visa?
It depends on the passport you hold and country you are visiting. Our full service travel agency will advise you whether you need a visa and provide advice and recommendations about how to proceed. Ultimately however, the traveler is responsible for obtaining the correct documentation and for any fees incurred.

How far in advance do I need to reserve my trip?
It is never too early to reserve your space on your trip of choice. Some of our trips book up several months or even a year in advance. Please call or e-mail the full service travel agency to reserve your place.

When I arrive at the airport, how do I get to the hotel?
The tour includes airport transfers to and from the hotel. We will have a copy of your flight itinerary.

What if I want to arrive early or stay on after the trip?
Our full service travel agency will be happy to make these arrangements for you if you wish; or if you prefer to make your own arrangements, they will provide the information you need to join the group.

What is included in the cost of the tour?
Each individual tour specifies in the 'Included Features' section what is included in the tour. The cost includes your accommodation(s), breakfast daily, excursions, activity instruction, local transportation, and services of your escort. The meals included will be specified on the itinerary. In addition, Melanie will be offering additional programs and webinars which are included in the travel package.

How do I pay?
The full service travel agency accepts major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express), and personal cheques.

How much do I pay?
At the time of your reservation, we will advise you the amount of the non-refundable deposit based on the trip.

Do I need to bring any foreign currencies?
Depending on the country you are visiting, you will be advised about the type of currencies used and accepted in that country prior to your departure.

What credit cards or debit cards are accepted in the countries I am visiting?
Always have multiple forms of money: cash, ATM, and credit cards. Ask your credit card company whether your credit card is accepted in the country you are visiting. Ask your bank if your debit card has a logo that is accepted in the country you are visiting. In addition, inquire about the daily withdrawal limits from the ATM machine and the fees charged by your bank.

Do I need to bring a cell phone?
It is your choice. Cell phones will not work abroad unless you have an international plan. Local plans will have roaming charges once the phone leaves the country. The costs of international plans vary; talk to your carrier for more information.

What documents do I need to bring?
A valid passport (note: you cannot travel if your passport expires within six months of your return flight); a travel visa(s) (if required); extra passport photos (depending on the country you are visiting); photo identification; travel itinerary; travel and medical insurance; airplane tickets/boarding pass; foreign cash (including U.S. cash); credit card(s); debit card(s); vaccination records; original written medical prescription(s) by a physician. It is important to make extra copies of each document listed above. Bring one set and the other set is left for your family/friend.

Health

Do I need travel vaccinations?
The requirement for vaccination depends on the country and region you are visiting and your personal history. Please consult your own doctor or visit a local Travel Clinic for the best advice for you.

How physically fit do I need to be?
This depends on the trip you select. You will be advised on the amount of walking and the level of fitness required per day.

Food & Accommodation

What will the food be like?
We feature both simple, nutritious local foods and gourmet meals, depending on the destination. We always try to vary the diet so that our participants can learn about and enjoy the local cuisine.

What are the accommodations like?
We stay in comfortable local, boutique style hotels. Accommodations are based on twin-share occupancy, (with private facilities) but single supplement is available if desired. Our tours all feature deluxe hotels. Our accommodations are centrally located in the places we visit offering the convenience of personal exploration during free time.

Can I come alone?
Most of the women who travel with us book as a single person. There is a single supplement fee that is separate from the cost of the tour package. If you are travelling with a friend, you can of course share a room with them. It is part of our mission to provide women the opportunity to meet new friends while enjoying a wonderful travel experience.

How many people are in the group?
This depends on the tour you select. Our groups are small, up to 12 participants.

What is the average age of your travellers?
The average age of our women travelers is over 50 years of age.

What type of women travel on your tours?
Our female passengers are mainly from North America and some from other countries. They include single women, married women, divorcees and widows who are over the age of fifty years.

Luggage & Packing

What is my luggage and carry-on limit?
You are responsible to ensure all carry-on baggage and luggage abides by airline size and weight standards. Any additional fees imposed by the airline is the traveller's responsibility.

What kind of clothing should I pack?
When your trip is booked with the full service travel agency, Melanie will offer a webinar(s) on what to pack, a private individual session plus a traveller’s checklist. She will also provide helpful ongoing tips and trip information right up to the time of departure.

Is there a dress code on these trips?
Depending on your destination, if applicable Melanie will provide a webinar addressing this prior to departure. In addition, information will be provided prior to your trip. What may seem to be laid back in one country will be greeted with looks of horror on the streets in another country. Dress code is an important aspect of paying respect to the sacred place of worship in another country. Shoes are also included in this dress code and just to be safe, wear closed shoes instead. Also, with churches and temples especially, make sure to remove your cap, hat, or any headgear as well.
